The in-person workshop will start at 9am in The National Piping Centre, McPhater Street, Glasgow and the Zoom online platform will take place from approximately 2.30pm/3pm (UK time). The CLASP workshop is open to adult amateur solo pipers worldwide and enthusiastic pipers with an interest in competition solo piping. Workshop participants are not required to be a CLASP member.
Course Content: Each day students will receive approximately 6 hours of teacher contact time.
Here is what students can expect each day:
1 x 45 minute Individual lesson
2/3 Piobaireachd Group Sessions
1 x Technique Workshop
1 x Light music playing
1 x Bagpipe Tuning and Set
1 x Special guest speaker
Optional Introduction to Piobaireachd (for those less experienced or wanting to get started on Piobaireachd)
The weekend workshop will focus on improving all aspects of solo competition performance. For pipers who do not play Piobaireachd, an introduction to Piobaireachd will be offered in place of some of the Piobaireachd group sessions. Please note that this workshop weekend is for adult pipers only. (18 years +)
Individual Lesson - Students will be offered one 45 minute session on both Friday and Saturday. This is a one to one private lesson where students can cover anything of their choice. Pre-recorded performances (You Tube unlisted link) can be shared with the instructor also if the student wishes. This can be a good opportunity for the instructor to hear the student clearly on the pipes and is very useful in a remote setting.
